Aggressive 'wait, one-time offer!' paywall pops up the moment users try to leave — flagged as manipulative

Apple said something like
We noticed that your app uses potentially manipulative or deceptive design patterns to encourage users to make a purchase, which is not in compliance with the Apple Developer Program License Agreement and Guideline 5.6 - Developer Code of Conduct.
Your app's paywall makes it difficult for users to decline the purchase or continue using the app without subscribing.
Specifically, when the user attempts to dismiss the subscription screen, another purchase screen is presented in a way that pressures the user to buy. Please revise your app to allow users to easily and clearly decline the purchase.
